چکیده

Non-equi l ibr ium ni trogenat ion of transition-metal rich rare-earth intermetallics can be used to increase the nitrogen content beyond its equilibrium concentration. For example, nitrogenation of S m 2 F e l 7 using ammonia yields volume expansions up to 8.3 vol %, which correspond to a composition S m 2 F e 1 7 N x with x = 4. This effect is related to catalytic action at the metal surface where ammonia is decomposed into nitrogen and hydrogen, with nitrogen absorption on a site where it is weakly bound, a s an intermediate step. For overloaded S m ~ F e 1 7 N x with xz-3 the net reaction energy U, = 5 f 10 kJlmole indicates a nearly temperature-independent occupation of the non-9e s i t e s .

Structural and magnetic properties of ammonia-nitrided Y2Fe17

In order to make a comparison with N2-gas nitrogenation, the structural and magnetic properties of ammonia-nitrided Y2Fe17Nx were investigated by a combination of x-ray diffraction, magnetization and nuclear magnetic resonance. It was found that by using NH3, the nitrogenation temperature and/or time are greatly reduced, and nominal N concentrations 0 6 x 6 6.3 are obtainable. For lower N conte...

Determination of Hydrate Phase Equilibrium Curve Using High-Pressure Visual Cell

This study aimed to construct the hydrate three-phase equilibrium curves for two typical Iranian gas reservoir samples using a high-pressure visual cell. To do so, complete analysis of the reservoir fluids was obtained by different techniques of composition analysis i.e. gas chromatography (GC) and detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA). Using high-pressure visual cell the hydrate phase equili...

Introduction of a Novel Two-Dimensional Equation of State to Predict Gas Equilibrium Adsorption in Highly-Nonideal Systems

Abstract The accurate calculations of adsorption equilibrium for multicomponent gas systems are of great importance in many applications. In this paper, five two-dimensional equations of state 2D-EOS, i.e. Van der Waals, Eyring, Zhou-Ghasem-Robinson, Soave-Redlich-Kwong and Peng-Robinson, were examined to find out their abilities to predict adsorption equilibrium for pure and multi-component ga...

Quantitative analysis of the nitrogenation process in Y2Fe17Nx based on a two-region configuration

A quantitative analysis has been carried out for the nitrogenation process using two groups of Y2Fe17Nx samples, one obtained by successively allowing longer nitrogenation times and the other by systematically varying the particle size. A detailed calculation using the two-region model results in an analytical solution for the nitrogen distribution as a function of nitrogenation time and partic...

Some effects of maintaining pulmonary nitrogenation during anaesthesia.

The effect of maintaining pulmonary nitrogenation on venous admixture during halothane anaesthesia and on postoperative hypoxaemia was studied in patients undergoing either abdominal surgery or the removal of varicose veins. In both groups venous admixture was greater when nitrogen replaced nitrous oxide in the anaesthetic gas mixture. In the varicose vein group hypoxaemia was more severe in th...
